Every Friday, Lisa Jo Baker hosts a blog link up called Five Minute Fridays (FMF). She provides a word prompt and then participants are to set their timers for five minutes and write until the timer goes off. I am so thankful that I found Five Minute Fridays! FMF gives me an opportunity to just “freestyle”! Many of you have told me that you really enjoy reading the FMF posts! The word for today is QUIET. Happy Friday Divas and here goes:
If you have ever been to one of our classes, you know our class is anything but QUIET. Women are hootin’ and hollerin’ and our music blares for the majority of class with the exception of the cool down.
The older I get, the more I realize I need QUIET to think clearly. The music in class is so loud and things are moving so quickly, an hour has gone by before you know it and whatever was bothering you, didn’t even cross your mind. Perhaps it is just me, but the noisiness of class seems to QUIET the clamoring issues of my day.
Although loudness can QUIET life drama for a moment, we often need to get QUIET so that we can see what God is doing and then do what HEwants us to do. We get so wound up from all the craziness of the day, it is hard to QUIET our minds. A little power salsa, the new crazy merengue and a song full of squats are just what the doctor ordered to help us relax so we can really get QUIET.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Visiting from Lisa – Jo’s. What a great way to look at the word quiet! I had never thought of it in that way before. I bet your classes are fun. I hope you have a wonderful Friday.
Blessings~

I smiled when I saw the title of your blog and wondered what direction a dance fit diva might take on the word quiet:) I like the idea of finding quiet in an otherwise loud environment!

You’re right sometimes loud IS quiet – not just when you’re needing a little escape from the world. But also when you’re trying to get your brain to focus and it keeps yapping at you from the inside.
Thanks!

Hi Katina,
I like your post and your blog space.
The post made me think of my Zumba class. It is great fun, but hard work … Whew!
We have the best Instructor, have to give a shout out to her!
Back to your post … of course once that hour and the music begins, it is not quiet in the literal sense, but that time of being lost in a good workout, trying to keep up and to not look too bad in the process, and all of us sighing in unison after every routine gives you a quiet (cerebral) escape even for that short window when you sound out everything else in life.

My mind can get quieter when my body is well-exercised. It’s a peaceful quiet. Not a crazy quiet. Thanks for the reminder!
