Last week, we had a very special addition to our class…. the Dance Fit Diva Prayer Box. Having a prayer box for our class was most assurdley divine intervention.
One of our regular class memembers, Mrs. Carole Hastings, came up to me after class one day and asked me to pray for her eyes. Mrs. Hastings has an irreversible eye condition that has caused her to loose quite a bit of her eye sight. She has had three surguries and her Opthomologist had in formed her that having more surgery was/is not an option.
Mrs. Hastings was visibly worried but attempted to smile like she always does. She told me that she had a doctor’s appointment later in the week where she would learn what would be their next steps. She said that her physician was very worried because she had already lost 6% of her eye sight in just a few months where most people only lose 10% over a couple of years.
I prayed for Ms. Hastings. I was actually a little worried because I could tell that she was worried but trying to appear strong. When I saw her the next week in class, I rushed up to her and asked her about her eyes.
She looked at me with a BIG smile and said “Honey, I had people praying for me everywhere. I was on prayer lists all over town and out of town. My husband and I went to my appointment prepared for the worst only to learn that my eyesight has stabalized! The doctor was so surprised! I don’t have to go back for 4 months! Now that is a blessing in more ways than one…We had been going to an appointment every 1-3 weeks and paying $50 each time!”
We both jumped up and down in excitement like two little girls! We had a little mini praise party.
Through the events with Mrs. Hastings, the Holy Spirit prompted me to have a prayer box available for our class. Lucky for me, I have a fabulous staff and volunteers who help bring all of my ideas to fruition.
Brittney, our classroom adminsitrative assitant, took my prayer box idea and created a beautiful box where our ladies can place their prayer requests. The box is kept on the sign in table with little sheets of paper and a pen.
Ladies can place their requests inside the box and we will pray for them! It doesn’t just have to be ladies in our class; anyone who wants to place a request in our box is welcome!
Gwen Smith said it best: “There are a million times when my heart or circumstances are fractured. Each wound and challenge threatens to keep me immobilized both emotionally and spiritually. In those times, it always benefits me to first seek refuge in the stable arms of God and to then buddy-strap my heart to a few godly girlfriends.”
(Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, NLT) Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
Wow, isn’t that what our class is all about?
Mrs. Hastings was so excited to hear about the box that she volunteered to help me pray for the requests in the box! I am presently in the process of forming our intercessary prayer team. Please see me if you are interested in changing lives through prayer!
