Just living life, going day-to-day, can be exhausting! I don’t know about y’all but when I am tired, throwing in the towel seems like the ONLY viable option. Fatigue makes everything more difficult and completely unmanageable.
After enjoying a lovely birthday dinner with a friend, she asked me “How much longer can you keep up your schedule. Aren’t you tired”.
My answer to her was an almost immediate, YES!
I wear many hats as do the majority of women I know. Although I get tired, and that “I just don’t wanna” feeling creeps up more often than I would like, the work I am doing right now is just too important to quit.
That being said, there are a some things that I have had to quit or at least let go for now:
I don’t really watch television. Now, I am NOT saying that TV is evil. I just “quit” TV. It seems like every time I cut the TV on, there is NOTHING that I really want to watch. The few shows that I do like, I DVR but I am weeks behind in watching them.
At least for the moment, I have given up on the perfectly organized, decorated and cleaned house. Clean clothes, fresh sheets, and reasonably clean bathrooms and kitchen are about all I can do right now!
Even with giving up some things, exhaustion still rears her ugly head. So what then? Well, when I START feeling myself getting that nagging overwhelmed feeling, I need to turn to only ONE who can replenish me!
Right then, I need to “wait” on the Lord. Waiting means stopping the madness even for just a few minutes to make time for prayer, meditation, devotion; quality time with God.
Isaiah 40:28-31 (ESV)
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary;his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;they shall mount up with wings like eagles;they shall run and not be weary;they shall walk and not faint.
Right in the midst of being busy or actively working towards a goal, “waiting” seems counterintuitive. In reality, it is really the most efficient thing to do!
Have an awesome weekend Divas!
That is a great tip especially to those new to the blogosphere.
