A few of us had a the wonderful opportunity to attend the Beautiful Life Conference led by Angela Thomas! On Friday night, we were blessed with praise and worship music from Charles Billingsley and a concert from the one and only MANDISA!
I tweeted Mandisa video of us dancing to her music and she tweeted me back! Not only that, she called the Dance Fit Divas down to the front of the stage to dance with her for her Good Morning song and routine! We had an absolute blast. It meant so much for her to mention us! She even asked for a Dance Fit Diva t-shirt and we gave her one of course! I can’t wait to see a picture of Mandisa in one of our shirts!
Saturday was all teaching and worship music and it was Ah-mazing! You really just had to be there but I would like to share a quick take away point from Mrs. Thomas’ teaching.
Just about at the end of the conference, Mrs. Thomas told a story about going hiking with her family. She jokingly talked about how her husband and children are athletic but she is not . Since the “non-athletic one” was along that day, the family decided to go on an easy hike. Mrs. Thomas laughed as she described how happy she was that they had chosen an easy path. As other people exited the “easy trail” they shook their heads and mocked at how “easy” it was.
She said the name of the trail was something like: “Easy Grandma Trail” (He he!).
As they entered the trail, she noticed that it was far from easy. The ground was broken and rocky. To get to the look out point, you had to climb over tree trunks and climb a rope. She felt bamboozled. “This can’t possibly be the Easy Grandma Trail”, she thought.
For over half of the walk, she grumbled and couldn’t quite accept that this was the trail they were on. She had signed up for the “Easy Grandma Trail”. In her mind, “Easy Grandma Trail” meant a nice even path—EASY!
So often in life, we sign up for the “Easy Grandma Trail” but God has other plans.
As Mrs. Thomas so eloquently put it, we get the path that we are on and we have to walk it. In fact, God wants us to run with endurance on our path. The thing to keep in mind is that we can’t get over the large tree limbs of life or climb up the ropes of real world drama and distractions by ourselves.
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.
Divas, what weights do you need to strip off so that you can run YOUR race with endurance?
Speaking of weights….make sure you bring them to class this week!
Hi Katina, I was at the Beautiful Life Conference also last weekend with my mom and aunt. We had a blast doing your routine to Mandisa’s song Good Morning! I live in South Hill, VA. I was searching Dance Fit Divas online to see if it is something I can find around me or if there is a workout video I can find.
